The Los Angeles Lakers are a professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. They play in the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Team History: The Lakers were originally founded in 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and were known as the Minneapolis Lakers. They won five NBA championships before moving to Los Angeles in 1960. Since moving to LA, the Lakers have won a total of 17 NBA championships, tied for the most in NBA history with the Boston Celtics.
Home Arena: The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, which they share with the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL).
